As a caregiver what if you had the answer??
Have you ever noticed when you think you know the answer or how to do something you often end up stuck? Or you decide there is “no good answer” so you shut down?
I often think I know the best way to do everything in my house, since I’m the mom, the caregiver, the wife, I know. Really – I don’t know, I’m just pretending. Sometimes I humor myself and ask my spouse and he has the best idea. I am reminded I am not quite as smart as I thought.
I don’t have all the answers, neither do my clients. But we wish we did, and we think we are supposed to. It doesn’t often serve us well.
Therefore we can adopt an attitude of curiosity. Remember it just means eager to learn, we can agree we all can learn something, right? I have found it serves myself and my clients so much better. Adapting a bit of curiosity to learn what we do not know, to wonder what else might be an option gives our brain so much more space to come up with a plan that works.
What can you be curious about today in an area you think you already know….or where you think there is no good answer?
Try curiosity today – it works.
