If you are actively caregiving – take advantage of support and resources available

Many millions of people woke up this morning to take care of loved ones in the US.

According to AARP (American Association of Retired Persons):

  • 26% of caregivers are caring for someone with dementia or Alzheimers.
  • More than 25% of caregivers struggle with coordinating care.
  • At least 40% of caregivers have suffered financially due to caregiving.
  • About half of caregivers feel they have no choice and yet most also say they find a sense of purpose as caregivers.
  • Over a quarter of caregivers report caregiving has made their own health worse.
  • Over 60% of caregivers work at least one other job, in addition to caregiving.

As a coach for burned out caregivers, my clients and I are a bit biased and believe hiring a coach to accompany you on the journey is immensely helpful. In addition, there are many services and support available through the Alzheimer’s Association, AARP, private agencies and your local county if you qualify.
