Have you had the experience of something hanging over your head for days while you struggle to make a decision? It occupies your brain, distracts you, keeps you from doing other important tasks and quite frankly is draining. That is decision fatigue. It is real.
I had a consultation for coaching this week with an 84-yr-old caregiver who is caring for her spouse. She is on a limited income. She was excited about the work we did in the complimentary 20 minute session and discovered she truly has the power of choice. She made some powerful decisions in the next two days.
She wrote, “Thank you for helping me activate the “choice” switch in my brain and realize I do have choices. Yesterday I ‘chose’ to opt out of being the middleman between my spouse and his son. I ‘chose’ to let my spouse know I am not willing to spend hours researching assisted living options now. I ‘chose’ to ride my bike instead of attending book club. The hardest choice was between you and the health aide. I am ‘choosing’ to go with the health aide and go skiing on some of the days that he is here. I’m 84 years old, this could be my last ski season, and it makes me so happy to be on the slopes.”
She then wanted to pay for the complimentary consult for the amazing benefits she received. That is not how it works – it was free, no strings attached.
I love life coaching where I can be of service whether people work with me or not. I love that she is 84, on the ski slopes and that she realized her power to choose things in her life and move forward and not live in the space of decision fatigue.
I offer a free initial 20-minute coaching call to help you see the obstacles between actively “choosing” and staying in decision fatigue. Please reach out.
